Falmouth University has recently expanded its textile digital print facility with the addition of the highly anticipated Mimaki Tx300P-1800. As a leading supplier for Mimaki digital textile printers, R A Smart was very pleased to supply and install this system for one of our long-standing customers.
Senior Technician at the University, Freya Moses, explains why the University took the decision to invest in the new technology “Digital print has become increasingly popular within the Fashion & Textiles Institute at Falmouth University, meaning the digital print facilities are in constant demand. We wanted to ensure that we could keep up with the high demand so it seemed like the perfect time to invest in a printer.” She continues, “We were keen to still have a Mimaki inkjet textile printer, as we have been so pleased with the 2 TX2 machines that we already have.”.
R A Smart has been working with Falmouth University for almost 15 years. “We have built a brilliant working relationship with R A Smart over the years, so unsurprisingly the purchasing of our new Tx300 went extremely smoothly. They were quick to send us all of the information we needed and any questions were answered promptly. They even arranged for us to take a look at the printer in action so we could make sure it was the correct model for what we needed,” explains Freya.
As well as supplying the printer and consumables, R A Smart also offer full training and support on all of our systems with our fully trained engineers and demonstrators. Freya commented, “We already knew that the technical support from R A Smart is of a very high standard as they have been helping us since we got our first Mimaki TX2 back in 2003. The engineers are always on hand to troubleshoot any problems we might have. If it’s not something that they can talk us through on the phone, then we never have to wait long for them to come down for a repair visit. The training is thorough and backed up with plenty of manuals, notes and top tips!”
Freya went on to explain how this new addition at the University will go on to help students from a range of courses “The Tx300 has the potential to print much quicker and with improved quality. We will now be able to offer more digital print sessions than we have previously had and on to a larger range of fabrics. We are going to research further into creating our own print environments, really concentrate on building up our knowledge of colour and possibly look into getting some links with local companies.”
The Mimaki Tx300P-1800 is already proving to be a hit. With the possibility to be set up with either Acid, Reactive, Pigment or Disperse dyes it offers itself to a wide variety of applications, including printing for household textiles, fashion or even soft signage. R A Smart has 50 years of experience when it comes to printing textiles and our knowledgeable team would be happy to discuss the solution best suited to your business’s needs.
