R A Smart (CAD & Machinery) are looking to add a field service & installation engineer to our expanding support team to help assist our growing number of customers investing in textile digital printing technology and related systems. This role would suit a motivated individual keen to learn new skills in a rapidly expanding industry with a well-established and growing company.

Based in Macclesfield, Cheshire R A Smart are one of the UK’s leading specialist suppliers of textile digital printing systems partnering major OEM manufacturers including Mimaki, Epson, Dgen, Transmatic and Robustelli, which are installed throughout the UK and Ireland as well as our range of heat presses and associated equipment. Our team of service engineers liaise directly with our manufacturing partners and our customers and are responsible for installation and support of a wide range of specialist digital printing systems.

As a field service & installation engineer, you will be responsible for the following-

  • Attending customers sites for breakdowns/ troubleshooting and planned maintenance
  • Installation of our equipment and end-user printer & RIP training, UK & Ireland-wide
  • Technical and application support to our customer base via telephone, email and remote dial-in
  • Carrying out pre-installation Site Surveys
  • Working at our headquarters in Macclesfield when not in the field
  • Accurate reporting of daily activities including reporting of Customer feedback
  • Liaising directly with manufacturers to resolve issues as required
  • Occasional overseas travel for Manufacturers’ technical training courses
  • Assistance at UK trade shows

Experience of operating digital printing equipment, RIP software, colour, profiling etc (especially within the printed textile industry) is preferred. Technical experience in digital print is not necessary, but you should ideally have relevant ‘transferable’ experience in a similar role or a background/ education in engineering or similar. All necessary training will be provided.
